Project pitching and diploma protection: why an IT specialist needs a stage

Purpose: Show that the ability to present yourself is as important as the ability to program. You wrote ingenious code, deployed a complex server and drew an incredible design. What's next? If you can not convince the commission, investors or the customer of the value of your product – it will remain in the repository dead weight. Defending the project, coursework or speaking at the hackathon is a full-fledged performance. The stage dictates its rules. Presenting a complex technical product to the jury requires serious directing. You have to adjust your “performance” to the smallest detail. There is no place for inappropriate slang or too informal speech - the texts of presentations should be cleaned, structured and presented as professionally and melodically as possible. Judges evaluate not only your product, but how you hold yourself in front of an audience. Confidence and delivery You have to learn the stage movement within the audience: how to stand, how to switch slides, how to answer tricky questions without panic. Proper presentation helps shift the focus from minor technical flaws to the global benefits of your solution. At the PAS Chair, we pay great attention to public defences.
